I recently had the oppurtunity to do something that I don't do much of lately - play drums.
My grandfather was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame at an event held in the French Quarter. This was huge when you consider Al Hirt was also honored that evening; past inductees include Louis Armstrong, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Pete Fountain and the list goes on and on. Paul Ferrara (my grandfather) jazz drummer for Al Hirt and Louie PrimaThe Louisiana Music Hall of Fame honors Louisiana artists and musicians inspiring the youth to regain prominence in the music community for our region. LMHOF also document's great traditions in Louisiana music capturing artists that are remembered not only in the United States but in Europe, Great Britain, Japan and across the world.
These are exciting times down yonder in the Big Easy as Louisiana music returns to its rightful place on the world stage.
